At JuneRay we approach winemaking with a philosophy of No Compromises, and likeminded individuals will appreciate the scarce treasure that is Ashlow, our flagship Napa Valley cabernet sauvignon proprietary blend. Unwilling to sacrifice quality for the sake of volumes, we have limited our annual production to just fifty cases, classifying Ashlow amongst the most exclusive of wines. California’s widely celebrated so-called “cult” cabernet wines are, relative to Ashlow, practically mass-produced.

Extraordinary wines always start with extraordinary grapes, and Ashlow is no exception. It is made from ultra-premium cabernet fruit sourced from two of Napa’s finest vineyards, one in St. Helena and the other in Coombsville. That combination produces a foundation of tremendous depth and complexity. Just the right amounts of complementary Bordeaux varietals perfectly integrate with the majestic cabernet to complete this rich, seductive blend. The 2008 vintage, which consists of 89% cabernet sauvignon, 8% merlot, and 3% cabernet franc, received a score of 91 points from James Suckling, one of the world's most infuential wine critics.

Just 600 bottles of this debut vintage were handcrafted by our expert winemaking team with the utmost care, so we can accommodate only a small handful of fortunate wine connoisseurs. Kian Tavakoli, our consulting winemaker for Ashlow, has a degree in Viticulture from U.C. Davis and brings over a decade of experience to the project. He spent nine years as the winemaker at Clos Du Val for their red wines, including the highly acclaimed reserve bottlings. Prior to that, he spent four years at Opus One learning Cabernet winemaking skills. We are privileged to have him on the Ashlow team!
